About the Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme
The Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme provides funding to farmers and land managers for projects that:
Support nature recovery and biodiversityMitigate climate change and promote sustainable land use.
Engage people with the landscape and its cultural heritageStrengthen nature-friendly, resilient rural businesses
Our protected landscapes — such as the Dorset National Landscape — are special, living places where farming, wildlife, and people thrive together.
By investing in these projects, FiPL helps create stronger communities, richer habitats, and a more sustainable future for all.
Through the Farm & Land Recovery Project, Flowerdew Farm is proud to contribute to this vision — empowering young people, celebrating inclusion, and caring for both people and planet
OUR PARTNERS:
Dorset National Landscapes:
"This project is a great example of the kinds of thing our new management plan will support - creating opportunities for people to enjoy the landscape for their own well being but also to 'give back' and help keep it in good shape for generations to come." Sue Dampney, engagement lead for the Dorset National Landscape Partnership.
START (Support, Transition And Recovery Team):
“The Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust’s Support Transition and Recovery Team (START) and Flowerdew Farm are working together to facilitate a group where START patients can have a place to learn and interact with animals (alpacas and goats), where they can feel the benefits of being in the fresh air and countryside, a place where people can volunteer so they can feel part of the community and most importantly a place where they are socially included.START and Flowerdew Farm have agreed to run a group throughout the seasons, people who have attended have said the following”‘I feel spiritually topped up’‘After attending a volunteer day I slept the best I have in years’‘Wow, the farm is such a great place, I love being so close with the animals, it has really improved my mood’“For myself as the team leader of the START team I am incredibly happy to be working alongside Flowerdew Farm, its great to see people look so happy and content when they are working alongside Claire.” Matthew Rees, Team Leader
Shine 21:
Are so excited to be a part of this project with Flowerdew Farm and DNL.Our children and young people have really benefited from spending time outdoors and learning about nature already at Flowerdew. Its amazing for their confidence, social skills and mental health. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to bring about positive outcomes!” Tara Gool, Founder
